There's A Rat Dying Up In The Attic

There’s a rat dying up in our attic
Where never a rat had been found
Its head caught in a trap
You’d think that would be that
But this rat can still make a sound

Thump, thump
Thump, thump
Thump, thump

There’s a rat dying up in our attic
And we wish that it hadn’t been there
County vermin control
Was out on patrol
And told us we’d better beware
Of rats in the attic

Thump, thump
Thump, thump
Thump, thump

There’s a rat dying up in our attic
While noisily seeking salvation
His maker he’ll meet
‘Neath an old plywood sheet
On a deathbed of pink insulation
He’ll push and he’ll bump
And sometimes

Thump, thump
Thump, thump
Thump, thump

There’s a rat dying up in our attic
And we sure hope we’ll find him when dead
Or he’ll crawl to a small space
And exit the rat race
Then stink up the whole house instead
Of dying right there in our attic

There’s a rat dying up in our attic
Oh, surely by now he is gone!
Passed away, dead, departed
Leaving his broken-hearted
Rat family to carry on

Thump, thump
Thump, thump
Thump, thump
Thump ,thump
Thump,
